Latest Stoll flat knitting technologies on show in Italy’s knitwear manufacturing capital.

Stoll Italia, the Italian subsidiary of leading flat knitting machine builder Karl Mayer Stoll, held a successful Open House exhibition at its Carpi, Emilia Romagna headquarters in October.
“After almost three years of forced impossibility, we have been finally happy to open our doors to customers, collaborators, and colleagues,” a spokesperson for the company said.
The event attracted a ‘satisfying number of participants’, who showed great interest in the proposed topics. Significant numbers of people were said to have registered for the demonstrations of the company’s K.innovation CREATE DESIGN and K.innovation CREATE PLUS software products.
On show were the latest Stoll flat knitting machines.

“With a float jacquard sample, made of fine yarns like NM 2/80 we showed the thinner effect, if compared with the usual 18 gauge. Also, the aspect of the stitch is resulting more compact and stable. The machine was equipped with leading yarn feeding control devices, in order to offer a more controlled quality,” Stoll Italia said.
Wall-panels and a motto: ‘4 Colour, many shades: Technology ADF’. Realized using the versatile Ikat-plating technique applied to transferred stitches. Three systems at work in any stroke of the carriage, no empty rows. To confirm that furniture complements are not separate from the apparel, four dummies were dressed in the same knitted fabric of the wall-panels.

The smallest machine of the Stoll Range can knit a good range of samples and saves space into factories. “‘No waste’ is the motto of the future and it is not the case to invest money and space for more performant machines, if not required. It is also right to keep an eye on this machine it as it can be a good support for productions. A beanie with pointelle and gore technique was knitted during the event, as an example of knitted accessories,” the company described.

“Our coarser KW machine, able to satisfy the market of Knit and Wear, supplying samples in gauge 3, in addition to a huge series of samples taking advantage of the large flat bed and the press jack’s system. A Knit&Wear turtleneck pullover with pointelle was knitted on the machine.”
All the machines were connected each other and the PPS software was planning the production, during the event, as a demonstration of the efficiency offered by Stoll’s industry 4.0 system.
At the centre of the machine room, was an area with 4 mannequins dressed in the Stoll Wonderful collection. Other samples of the same collection were exhibited on metal bars (parts of the additional take down of the machines).
Two areas of the venue were dedicated to the software demonstrations, with online pre-registrations, completely fully booked.
Stoll’s Joerg Hartmann presented on the opportunities offered by the Create Design, especially useful for designers, pattern makers, prototype makers, and virtual designers.
Nicola Pedron (Mr) presented the part of the software more dedicated to the machine programming - Create Plus software.
There was a lot of interest in the presentations and a lot of interaction with participants, with questions and new points of view. Feedback from customers after the event has been extremely positive, Stoll Italia says.
“Finally, let us say this kind of events are also useful for relationships, connections, and new ideas, in front of a glass of wine and some good food.”
